Waiting for petals to unfurl…

Tonight, I’m sitting, day dreaming and admiring the peonies we bought today from our grocer. They are tight, perfect round parcels of delicate pink petals which curl and fold around one another, as if shy. They sit on strong stems and they are framed by tens of pointed green leaves. They are beautiful.


While I wait for them to unfurl, I paint them on the back of a used piece of paper in layers of opaque watercolour…
